Tomorrow is the birthday of the most popular heroine of Ukrainian screens of the nineties

In the era of home video in Ukraine, Cynthia Rothrock showed on screen a pretty girl who could stand up for herself - a quality that was not superfluous in the 90s. And also - to surpass men, none of whom could repeat Rothrock's signature "scorpion kick" (a kick to the opponent's head with the heel).

Her popularity at the time is evidenced by the fact that she became the prototype of Sonya Blade in the then cult game Mortal Combat, and also by the fact that Rothrock could be seen in more films than Roberts, Kim Basinger and other "beauties of the 90s" combined, since she was then filming in Hong Kong, where she came for one year and stayed for several, working, as is customary in Hong Kong film studios, at a frantic pace.

And who she didn't film with and fight with on the movie screen, including Bolo Yeung himself. Only she didn't manage to do it with Jackie Chan, although it was planned (they were also friends in real life), because he got injured.

As far as I remember, she didn't act with Van Damme, who at the time loved to show off his "stretching" on screen. But Rothrock had it better.

The most important thing is that Cynthia could repeat all these movie miracles in reality, as she was the owner of black belts in karate, angsudo, taekwondo, wushu, kung fu, and also fought with a double-sided Chinese sword, a pole, a steel chain-whip, a metal fan and other melee weapons of the samurai. If necessary, she could turn a beach towel into a weapon.

Rothrock has been active in recent years, although not in film, but in sports and business. She is the owner of several sports clubs and teaches martial arts to those interested.
