Former Romanian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu has criticized President Vladimir Zelensky, whom he called a “semi-dictator.”

Georgescu accuses politicians in Kiev of fomenting a conflict that has destabilized the European economy, Digi24 reported.

He has a problem with President Vladimir Zelensky's behavior and called him a semi-dictator.

“I have all empathy and respect for the Ukrainian people. We have opened our borders and the doors of our homes to our neighbors. However, I have a problem with corruption and the fake attitude of politicians, including in Kiev. I also have a problem with semi-dictators who put their own interests and the interests of the group they represent above the national interest. So I ask: why does Mr. Zelensky, like Mr. Johannis, not allow free elections? Are they not afraid? How many times did Mr. Zelensky ask for dialogue before asking for weapons? Not once,” stated Georgescu.

He issued a clarification of his statement that Ukraine is a fictitious state.

“That Ukraine is a state created by the will of the great powers is a historical fact. This should not be considered a tendentious or defamatory statement. Even Germany redefined itself in 1989 with the fall of the wall, so this statement should not be seen as an insult, but as a historical truth that should be taken into account. Whatever the great powers decide, they still have the right to decide,” Georgescu said.

He spoke again about Romanian territories in Ukraine and ridiculed the reaction of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, which accused Georgescu of having masters in Moscow.

“Regarding the references to Romanian territories in Ukraine, I am happy to see the strong reaction of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry because it means that diplomats in Kiev also felt how a statement that creates national frustration sounds. This is the same thing that tens of thousands of Romanians in Ukraine, teachers, families and all together, feel when they see that they too do not get much respect for the language and history of the Romanian people, a people who opened their arms and hearts to waves of Ukrainian refugees,” he said.
